When Masha and Ron came to me to plan their son’s Bar Mitzvah in Ibiza, it was clear from the beginning that this would be much more than a single event.

Around 110 guests travelled from Miami and New York to spend three days together on the island. The idea was to create a full weekend of celebrations, with each day having its own atmosphere and experience — from an elegant Ibiza welcome party to the main Bar Mitzvah celebration and a cool pool party to finish.

Day One — Welcome at Beach House

The weekend started with a welcome party at Beach House — elegant yet relaxed, in typical Ibiza style.

After travelling from the US, it was a chance for everyone to come together by the sea, reconnect, have dinner, enjoy the music and settle into the weekend.

We intentionally kept the atmosphere relaxed while making sure everything still felt special and beautifully considered. It was the perfect introduction to Ibiza and set the tone for the celebrations ahead.

Day Two — The Bar Mitzvah

The second day was the heart of the weekend: the Bar Mitzvah itself, held at a private villa.

With 110 guests and different generations celebrating together, we wanted to create an event that respected the importance of the occasion while also feeling contemporary, stylish and incredibly fun.

One of the boldest elements of the entire weekend was the scale of the production. For the dinner, we built a huge platform of approximately 400 square metres completely over the villa’s swimming pool, transforming it into an entirely new event space for the evening.

And we had just 24 hours to build it.

The dinner tables were also custom-made specifically for the event, finished in silver with red LED lighting running through them. The result was bold, modern and completely different from the relaxed atmosphere of the previous evening.

Entertainment was a major part of the celebration. Throughout the evening we had a singer, hosts, dancers and a saxophonist, with the energy building as the night progressed.

Then it was time for the club.

For this part of the night, we flew in a DJ from New York to play the family’s favourite music and turn the villa into a proper party.

But the production challenge didn’t end when the party did.

The following day was a pool party in exactly the same space, which meant that as soon as the celebration finished, the overnight dismantling began. The entire 400-square-metre platform, custom tables, technical production and event setup had to be taken apart and completely cleared before guests returned the next day.

Within a matter of hours, a huge night-time event space had to disappear and become a swimming pool again.

It was an enormous production operation with an exceptionally tight turnaround — 24 hours to build it, one incredible night to enjoy it, and then just a few hours to make it all disappear.

Day Three — The Pool Party

By the following day, you would never have known what had occupied the space just hours earlier.

The platform was gone, the pool was back, and everyone returned for a cool pool party.

After a big night, the final day had a completely different energy. Music, food, drinks, swimming and another day together in the Ibiza sunshine made it the perfect ending to the weekend. It was relaxed and easy, but still very much a party — exactly what everyone needed after the night before.

I love this contrast in multi-day celebrations. Each event doesn’t need to look or feel the same. In fact, it’s much more interesting when it doesn’t.

Over three days, guests experienced three completely different sides of Ibiza, while the whole weekend still felt connected.

Creating an Experience, Not Just an Event

Planning a celebration like this goes far beyond choosing beautiful styling or booking great entertainment.

With 110 guests travelling internationally, three events, multiple suppliers, custom production, entertainment, transportation and an exceptionally tight installation and overnight dismantling schedule, there were hundreds of moving parts happening behind the scenes.

My job was to make sure the family didn’t have to manage any of them.

Masha later described her experience of working together:

For me, that’s exactly what successful event planning should feel like.

My clients can have strong ideas, high expectations and a very clear sense of what they like. My role is to understand that vision, develop it, bring together the right people and then take responsibility for making the entire experience work.

Especially for an occasion as meaningful as a Bar Mitzvah, the family should be celebrating alongside their guests — not thinking about what needs to happen next.

And perhaps my favourite line from Masha’s review was:

“Working with her makes me want to plan another party soon!”
